You laugh....I moved to the great liberal enclave known as New Jersey to be amongst others like me. Oh, and to escape the cesspool that is Houston radio. Even as a kid, I'd tape stations up here so that I could enjoy good radio during the school year.

Now get back to tryin' to get yo mojo workin...

CHRles you are absolutely right. The first hour or so was very rhythmic but they are indeed pop. So far I'm really liking the sound and I hope the personalities are upbeat and in your face like your predicting. The bland dial needs that right now.

Oh yeah they also played Paramore and Buckcherry so again people this is a CHR/Pop station with a Rhythmic leaning slant.

No, once again - this is a CHR/Pop station NOT a Rhythmic CHR.
Mediabase will very quickly switch the station's classification over to the CHR/Pop panel.
I've already heard Finger Eleven's "Paralyzer" into Taylor Swift, and a little while later One Republic's "Stop And Stare". I don't know of any Rhythmics that play these records, do you????

It looks like they will go the Rhythmic route: Mediabase has added the station to its Rhythmic panel http://www.mediabase.com/mmrweb/AllAcce ... .asp?c_let =KHJZ-FM

Several minutes of crap about wildcatters & old mayors - and nothing defining the station. Does anyone under the age of 50 give a rats **** about Astroturf being invented here, and what does that have to do with hit music? Then you launch with an ancient Nelly song? How out of touch is the crew at Hot?

(Jeff Garrison, in All Access)

The launch was top notch! Bigger then life, and yet you felt like you were in Disneyworld or something. Very cool!
They spent 24 hours prepping for the launch with a nice little mix of uptempo music to get people in a party mode/celebration mode for the launch of the new station.
As for Nelly, the name of the station is HOT 95.7 so it seems rather appropriate to play "Hot In Here". All in all the station is actually very current intensive, and very hit oriented.
Expect this station to jump on a lot of songs long before KRBE, expect the jocks coming to be high energy and in your face, and expect to see the ratings soar in just a few short months thanks to PPM.
