Merlin Olsen has passed away at the age of 69.

While he played 15 years with the then-Los Angeles Rams, and went on to costar in the TV series "Little House On The Prairie" and "Father Murphy", Olsen was best known as a TV football analyst. He spent a decade as NBC's lead NFL analyst, working for most of that time alongside D**k Enberg.

If my memory serves me correct, Olsen worked five Super Bowls for NBC, the first with Curt Gowdy and the other four with Enberg.

Fox Sports.com story: http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/NFL-Hall-of-Famer-Merlin-Olsen-dead-at-69-031110?GT1=39002 .

Has anyone ever heard them call a male's name? I mean, I know the station is aiming squarely at females but to pretend no males registered for the contest is crazy. I ask because...well, because I'm a male who registered and I listen almost every day and I don' think I ever heard them call a man's name. And also because today, I couldn't tell whether the 1:00 name was "Tiff" or "Tim."

I actually set up a calendar reminder to listen at 1:00 every weekday but the odds are stacked quite high against me so I think I'm gonna give up on t his particular $500 jackpot! haha.

Branding an Oklahoma City station "Tim-FM" would be like using "Osama FM" as a brand name for a radio station in New York or "Katrina FM" as branding for a radio station in New Orleans.

Very poor taste.

Hopefully, Tyler Media will end-up giving 93.3 a different "brand" that won't be so offensive.

Well, "warren.merrill" you are a tricky one aren't you.

Percentage of college grads as regular radio or tv listeners –

Limbaugh: 37%
CSPAN: 36%
CNN: 28%
MSNBC: 31%
NPR: 38%
National Average: 27%

Note: Limbaugh with "37%" -that alone places the average of his listeners outside the college educated strata.

"Percentage 50+ in age:
Limbaugh:51%, not 67%"

Note here that my remarks was "Limbaugh’s national listener average is a 67 year old white male w/high school education. "

Either you misunderstand the difference between -percentage- and an age median..or..you are being purposefully deceptive.

"Arbitron: Since 1991, Limbaugh has had the most-listened-to radio talk show in the United States...."

The term; "most listened too"- is a marketing tool and means little in actual business terms.

The -facts- are that Con-Talk stations often bill substantially less than straight new ot music formats in most markets -even with comparable 6+ shares.

Here in NYC the two conservative N/T's WABC and WOR bill substantially less than other stations with comparable ratings:

Here's the BIA list for 2008. figures are in millions.

1. WLTW $52.6

2. WINS $51.8 - All News

3. WHTZ $49.6

4. WCBS-AM $46.7 -ALL News

5. WFAN $38.9

6. WPLJ $31.1

7. WQHT $30.1

8. WSKQ $29.4

9. WAXQ $29.2

10. WBLS $28.0

11. WRKS $26.4

12. WKTU $25.6

13. WWPR $25.0

14. WABC $21.3 -Con Talk

15. WPAT-FM $20.8

16. WCBS-FM $18.5

17. WWFS $17.8

18. WXRK $15.9

19. WOR $15.1 Con-talk

20. WQXR $10.6

21. WRXP $10.4

22. WCAA $9.5

22. WADO $9.5

24. WEPN $9.3

25. WMCA $7.9

The reason for this disparity is not simply AM vs FM in fact, WCBS-am is now late (2009) the highest grossing station in the market, it is the demographics of the conservative audience.

Quoting:
"Note: I’m not a big Limbaugh fan. I just like dealing in realities and truth when it comes to facts."

Well then you might want to peruse these links:

http://people-press.org/report/319/public-knowledge-of-current-affairs-little-changed-by-news-and-information-revolutions -Not particularity good news for Democrats but truly grim for conservatives as their cohort is actually dying off.

http://www.vanityfair.com/politics/features/2009/05/rush-limbaugh200905

http://www.crainsnewyork.com/article/20100115/FREE/100119904#

"Rush Radio" is the classic example of a re-branding and packaging of a fading product.

Tyler Media moved Country “King Country 93.3” KKNG Oklahoma City to 97.3, the former home of “Jack-FM” KOJK at 2:00pm today. The shift slides KKNG from the 100kw Class C signal to a weaker 1kw Class A rimshot. All air personalities at KKNG are out as well including morning hosts Bill Thomas and K.C. Shepherd. KKNG has also removed all currents and recurrents from the music mix and gone completely Classic Country.

As far as 93.3 goes, it appears the Variety Hits format formerly on 97.3 will return in a new form. Tyler Media registered 933TimFM.com and TimFM933.com last week via a subsidiary.

We wonder how the “Tim-FM” moniker will go over in Oklahoma City given the connection the 1995 bombing by Timothy McVeigh.

On April 5, ESPN Radio will trim an hour off of middayer Colin Cowherd’s program to give him more time to prepare for his ESPN2 “SportsNation” program. “The Herd”, which currently runs from 10am to 2pm Eastern, will now end at 1:00. The lost hour will be transferred to Scott Van Pelt, who will now run from 1pm to 4pm.

This shift, along with the addition of more local programming will lead to lineup revamps at the ESPN O&O’s in New York and Los Angeles.

The station adds “The Leadoff Spot” hosted by Ryan Ruocco from 5am to 6am leading into Mike & Mike from 6am to 10am. Seth Everett moves from nights to a 10am to 11am slot. Colin Cowherd’s national show airs from 11am to 1pm. Current 10am to 12pm host Brandon Tierney moves to 1pm to 3pm where he will be joined by Jody MacDonald. The Michael Kay Show drops an hour to run from 3 to 7pm, with the final hour keeping its “New York Baseball Tonight” theme. Bill Daughtry will host from 7pm to Midnight.

In Los Angeles, the national lineup of Mike & Mike followed by Colin Cowherd remain from 3 to 10am. The dropped hour from Cowherd leads to middayers Mychel Thompson and Andrew Siciliano sliding up an hour to air from 10am to 2pm. Steve Mason and John Ireland also slide up to run from 2pm to 6pm. A new night show, hosted at the Los Angeles ESPN Zone resturant, hosted by Brian Long and A.
