Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
November 14, 2017

Alt 98.7 KYSR Los Angeles Woody ShowAfter over two decades at CBS Radio’s 106.7 KROQ Los Angeles, Lisa Worden is jumping to iHeartMedia where she will serve as Vice President of Programming for Alternative “Alt 98.7” KYSR Los Angeles and Alternative Rock Brand Manager for the company’s National Programming Group.

Worden joined KROQ as Music Director in 1995 and outside of two years programming sister 99.1 WHFS Annapolis MD from 2003-2005 has been there ever since currently serving as Assistant Program Director. In her new position she will lead the “Alternative Rock Brand Management Team connecting key advertisers with the company’s Alternative Rock music audience and provides strategic guidance to more than 25 Alternative Rock music station brands”.

Mike Kaplan remains in place as KYSR Program Director working alongside Worden.

iHeartMedia announced today that renowned radio veteran Lisa Worden has been named Vice President of Programming for ALT 98.7, LA’s New Alternative, in Los Angeles. In addition, Worden was named Alternative Rock Brand Manager for iHeartMedia’s National Programming Group. ALT 98.7’s strong cross-platform presence includes several popular nationally recognized Alternative programming and personalities including The Woody Show, Marty, Harms and Jake Dill, and produces legendary marquee events including ALT 98.7 Summer Camp.

As Vice President of Programming, Worden will work alongside Mike Kaplan, who will continue to serve as Program Director at Alt 98.7, where under his leadership, the station has set new record ratings performances. In her new role as Alternative Rock Brand Manager, she will lead iHeartMedia’s Alternative Rock Brand Management Team, which connects key advertisers with the company’s Alternative Rock music audience and provides strategic guidance to more than 25 Alternative Rock music station brands, reaching over 42 million listeners monthly. Worden will report to Tom Poleman, Chief Programming Officer for iHeartMedia, and Brad Hardin, Executive Vice President and General Manager of National Programming Group for iHeartMedia.

“Lisa is widely regarded as an outstanding leader in the Alternative Rock world,” said Poleman. “Her relationships are fantastic. She’ll play a key role in helping artists maximize iHeartMedia’s unmatched Alternative footprint.”

Worden brings over two decades of Alternative Rock programming experience to iHeartMedia, most recently as Assistant Program Director and Music Director for KROQ-FM in Los Angeles. She first joined the station as its Music Director in 1995. Beginning in 2003, Worden spent two years as the Program Director for WHFS-FM in Washington, DC and returned to KROQ-FM in 2005. She was named one of Billboard’s Top Women in Music from 2010-2014 and one of Billboard’s Top Rock Programmers in 2016. Worden also received the Station Music Director of the Year award at the Worldwide Music Summit in 2011 and 2014. She received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Marketing from California State University, Long Beach.

“I could not be more thrilled to join the incomparable iHeartMedia team and work with the amazing people at iHeartMedia Los Angeles,” said Worden. “My 20-plus year career in radio has led to this tipping point. I can’t wait to take the iHeartMedia Alternative platform to new heights!”

iHeartMedia Los Angeles reaches 93% of people in Los Angeles every month, and even has a bigger reach than all LA broadcast TV affiliates – combined. iHeartMedia extends its influence across multiple platforms, and delivers more live programming than any other media company. In October, iHeartMedia announced the first-ever iHeartRadio ALTer EGO mega-concert at the historic, “Fabulous” Forum in Los Angeles on January 19, 2018. The music of iHeartRadio’s popular Alternative Rock stations and the iHeartRadio app will come to life with an extraordinary lineup including Mumford & Sons, Cage The Elephant, Beck, Spoon, WALK THE MOON, The National, Dashboard Confessional and more.

iHeartMedia is the leading media outlet in the Los Angeles market with multiple platforms, including its broadcast stations; live events; data; and its digital businesses and platforms, including mobile, social and its own iHeartRadio, the leading all-in-one streaming music and live radio service – with more than 1.4 billion app downloads and 100 million registered users.
