iHeartMedia Classic Rock 100.7 WRDU Wake Forest/Raleigh NC has announced the addition of Joe Johnson as Program Director and afternoon host.
Johnson has served as PD of iHeart’s Rock 96.3 WROV and Alternative “Alt 96” W244AV/W245BG Roanoke VA since 2011. He previously programmed “Rock 103” WRCQ Fayetteville NC and has also worked in Jackson MS and Tampa.
Johnson supplants Brian Taylor in those duties at WRDU.
iHeartMedia Raleigh announced today that Joe Johnson has been named Program Director and Afternoon Drive On-Air Personality for Classic Rock 100.7 WRDU, effective September 24. iHeartMedia Raleigh has a strong cross-platform presence and includes a number of iconic brands and franchises — both broadcast and digital — encompassing five stations comprised of music, talk and news formats.
iHeartMedia has the leading consumer reach and influence across multiple platforms and delivers more live programming than any other media company. As Program Director, Johnson will work closely with on-air personalities and the sales team to oversee on-air, digital and music programming integrations for the radio station and their local events. Listeners will also hear Johnson weekday afternoons from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the station. He will report to Chris Edge, Area Senior Vice President of Programming for iHeartMedia Raleigh and Greensboro Markets.

Johnson joins iHeartMedia Raleigh from WROV Roanoke-Lynchburg where he most recently served as the Program Director and Afternoon Drive On-Air Personality for the past seven years. He began his career at WXTB-FM and is a graduate of the University of Florida.
