September 2024 (8/15 – 9/11) Nielsen Audio PPM Ratings Day 2: Record Highs Abound

Nielsen Audio has released Day 2 of its monthly four day sweep of ratings in PPM markets.

Today’s releases include Washington DC, Boston, Seattle, Miami/Fort Lauderdale, Phoenix, Detroit, Minneapolis, Tampa/St. Petersburg, Denver, San Diego, Baltimore, and St. Louis.

Washington DC

96.3 WHUR Washington Marc Clarke Michael BaisdenPublic News/Talk 88.5 WAMU jumps 10.5 to 12.1 to expand its lead to nearly three shares. Hubbard News 103.5 WTOP drops 9.8 to 9.2. Howard University Adult R&B 96.3 WHUR rises up 6.4 to 7.9. Classical 90.9 WETA-FM rises 3.9 to 4.5 to tie for fourth with iHeartMedia AC 97.1 WASH as it is down 4.8 to 4.5.

iHeartMedia Country 98.7 WMZQ continues its climb 3.7 – 3.9 – 4.3. iHeart Alternative “DC 101” WWDC drops 4.4 to 3.7.

Audacy Hip Hop 95.5 WPGC drops 3.8 to 2.7. Radio One Gospel “Praise 104.1” WPRS-FM is down 3.3 to 2.5.

Audacy Spanish CHR “El Zol 107.9” WLZL trends up 1.5 – 1.8 – 2.0, while its stream moves 1.2 to 0.9.

Boston

Mix 104.1 WWBX BostonFor the fourth straight month, Audacy Hot AC “Mix 104.1” WWBX has set a format high. But this month’s 7.0 – 7.8 – 9.6 jump also makes it an all-time record high for the 104.1 frequency according to Ratings Expert Chris Huff. Beasley Media’s “98.5 The Sports Hub” WBZ-FM rises 7.5 to 8.6. Beasley Classic Hits 105.7 WROR slips 6.8 – 6.4 – 6.1. Audacy AC “Magic 106.7” WMJX drops 6.0 – 5.7 – 5.2, but its stream is up 0.3 to 0.6. iHeartMedia Classic Rock 100.7 WZLX is up 3.9 – 4.3 – 4.9.

iHeartMedia News 1030 WBZ dips 4.7 to 4.4. Public News/Talk 90.9 WBUR slides 5.1 – 4.6 – 4.2. Competing Public News/Talk 89.7 WGBH-FM dips 4.1 to 3.9 and sister Classical 99.5 WCRB rises 2.3 to 2.9. AAA 88.9 WERS trends down 2.1 – 1.6 – 1.2.

With its move from Classic Rock to Bloomberg in the final week of the survey, 92.9 WBOS dips 1.9 to 1.8. iHeart Country “101.7 The Bull” WBWL slides 1.9 – 1.7 – 1.6 and sister Spanish Tropical “Rumba 97.7” WZRM is down 1.5 to 1.0.

Seattle/Tacoma

94.9 KUOW SeattlePublic News/Talk 94.9 KUOW-FM dips 8.6 to 8.4. iHeartMedia Classic Rock 102.5 KZOK drops 7.1 to 6.1. Audacy Rock 99.9 KISW slides 6.4 – 5.9 – 5.4. iHeart Classic Hits “95.7 The Jet” KJEB rises 4.2 to 4.9. Audacy Country “100.7 The Wolf” KKWF ends its four month slide rebounding 4.2 to 4.7 to tie for fifth with Bonneville News/Talk 97.3 KIRO-FM as it is down 5.3 to 4.7.

With its flip from AC “94.1 The Sound” to Hot AC “Emma 94.1” in the final week of the survey, Audacy’s KSWD is down 4.3 to 4.0. Hubbard AC “Warm 106.9” KRWM trends up 3.4 – 3.8 – 4.2. Christa Media Christian AC “Spirit 105.3” KCMS-FM rises 2.6 to 3.2.

AAA 90.3 KEXP swings 3.0 – 2.3 – 3.1. Audacy Rhythmic Throwbacks “Hot 103.7” KHTP drops 3.2 to 2.6.

Bonneville’s “Seattle Sports 710” KIRO trends down 3.7 – 3.2 – 2.9. iHeart’s 93.3 KJR-FM rises 1.7 – 2.0 – 2.3.

Miami/Fort Lauderdale

Hot 105 WHQT Miami Rick PartyTwo stations set record highs atop South Florida. Cox Media Group Adult R&B “Hot 105” WHQT rises 8.3 – 9.6 – 9.8 – 10.5 for the largest share in the frequency’s history. iHeartMedia’s Bilingual Soft AC “Magic 93.9” WMIA-FM moves up to second 4.8 – 5.9 – 6.2 to also set a record high for its frequency. Audacy AC “101.5 Lite-FM” WLYF rises 5.2 to 5.6 to tie SBS Spanish Classic Hits “Zeta 92.3” WCMQ as it dips 5.9 to 5.6. Univision Spanish AC “Amor 107.5” WAMR dips 5.3 to 5.1 to tie Cox Soft AC “Easy 93.1” WFEZ as it holds at a 5.1 share.

Audacy’s Rhythmic Throwbacks “Power 96” WPOW-FM rises 2.7 to 3.1 for its best showing since July 2019.

iHeartMedia CHR “Y100” WHYI drops 3.5 – 3.2 – 2.4 and sister Classic Rock “Big 105.9” WBGG-FM is down 2.6 to 1.9 for what Huff notes is its lowest share since Summer 1994 it flipped from Oldies WAXY-FM to all-70s “Big 106”

Arizona Sports 98.7 KMVP-FM PhoenixiHeartMedia AC “99.9 KEZ” KESZ holds at a 10.1 share to retain its commanding lead in Phoenix. Hubbard Classic Rock 100.7 KSLX inches up 6.1 to 6.2. iHeart Variety Hits “95.5 The Mountain” KYOT holds at a 4.6 share. Audacy Classic Hits “Big 94.5” KOOL-FM is up 3.9 to 4.2 to tie for fourth with Hubbard Rock 97.9 KUPD which dips 4.5 to 4.2.

Bonneville’s “Arizona Sports 98.7” KMVP-FM trends up 2.6 – 3.1 – 3.5 – 3.9.

Public News/Talk 91.5 KJZZ jumps 2.5 – 3.1 – 3.7. Co-owned Classical 89.5 KBAQ rises 2.1 to 3.4 for what Huff notes matches its record high share in August 2017.

Hubbard Alternative “Alt AZ 93.3” KDKB is down 4.1 to 3.6. Since its move to a Pop/Alternative lean in July, iHeartMedia’s “Mix 96.9” KMXP holds at a 2.3 share. Desert Valley Media Group Hot AC “Hot 97.5/103.9” KMVA/KZON rises 2.1 to 2.5.

Cumulus Classic Rock 92.5 KQRS trends up 4.4 – 5.2 – 5.6. AAA “89.3 The Current” KCMP rises 3.3 to 4.4.

Audacy Variety Hits “104.1 Jack-FM” KZJK continues its tumble 6.4 – 5.2 – 4.5 – 4.2. Audacy News/Talk 830 WCCO trends down 4.8 – 4.5 – 4.0 with its stream down 0.6 to 0.4.

Tampa/St. Petersburg

Univision Spanish AC “Amor 107.5” WAMR dips 5.3 to 5.1 to tie Cox Soft AC “Easy 93.1” WFEZ as it holds at a 5.1 share.

Audacy’s Rhythmic Throwbacks “Power 96” WPOW-FM rises 2.7 to 3.1 for its best showing since July 2019.

iHeartMedia CHR “Y100” WHYI drops 3.5 – 3.2 – 2.4 and sister Classic Rock “Big 105.9” WBGG-FM is down 2.6 to 1.9 for what Huff notes is its lowest share since Summer 1994 it flipped from Oldies WAXY-FM to all-70s “Big 106”

Hubbard Classic Rock 100.7 KSLX inches up 6.1 to 6.2. iHeart Variety Hits “95.5 The Mountain” KYOT holds at a 4.6 share. Audacy Classic Hits “Big 94.5” KOOL-FM is up 3.9 to 4.2 to tie for fourth with Hubbard Rock 97.9 KUPD which dips 4.5 to 4.2.

Bonneville’s “Arizona Sports 98.7” KMVP-FM trends up 2.6 – 3.1 – 3.5 – 3.9.

Public News/Talk 91.5 KJZZ jumps 2.5 – 3.1 – 3.7. Co-owned Classical 89.5 KBAQ rises 2.1 to 3.4 for what Huff notes matches its record high share in August 2017.

Hubbard Alternative “Alt AZ 93.3” KDKB is down 4.1 to 3.6. Since its move to a Pop/Alternative lean in July, iHeartMedia’s “Mix 96.9” KMXP holds at a 2.3 share. Desert Valley Media Group Hot AC “Hot 97.5/103.9” KMVA/KZON rises 2.1 to 2.5.

Hubbard Hot AC “KS 95” KSTP-FM slides 8.3 – 7.3 – 6.2 to tie for fifth with iHeartMedia CHR 101.3 KDWB as it is off 6.3 to 6.2.

Cumulus Classic Rock 92.5 KQRS trends up 4.4 – 5.2 – 5.6. AAA “89.3 The Current” KCMP rises 3.3 to 4.4.

Audacy Variety Hits “104.1 Jack-FM” KZJK continues its tumble 6.4 – 5.2 – 4.5 – 4.2. Audacy News/Talk 830 WCCO trends down 4.8 – 4.5 – 4.0 with its stream down 0.6 to 0.4.
