After fifteen years in mornings at Alpha Media Hot AC “Star 105.5” WZSR Woodstock IL, Joe Cicero will depart the station following his show on Friday, December 6 to become President of Promotions and Marketing for the McHenry Outdoor Theater.
Cicero has hosted mornings on WZSR with Tina Bree since 2009. The duo have also been heard on sister “Star 96.7” WSSR Joliet since March 2023 and were also on “Star 102.3” WXLC Waukegan from then until that station’s flip to Country in May. During his tenure at WZSR, Cicero also served as Program Director. He will stay with the station in one capacity, launching a Saturday 8am-12pm show in January.
Cicero began his career at WCKG Chicago hosting overnights in 1999 and later spent time in mornings at 102.3 WXLC Waukegan and “92.9 Peak-FM” KKPK Colorado Springs prior to joining WZSR.
In a statement shared to the McHenry County Northwest Herald, Market Manager Kathleen Cahill said, ““For the last fifteen incredible years, Joe and Tina have been the voices listeners tuned in to every morning creating a remarkably strong bond with our audience. After getting up everyday before dawn to entertain and connect with our community, Joe Cicero has decided to step back from his role as Star’s beloved morning show host to allow himself more time to pursue a new opportunity.”
The stations have yet to share its plans for mornings following Cicero’s departure.
