We start this update with a number of translator sales.
Mount Wilson FM continues its expansion in Monterey, CA with the purchase of 94.7 K234AW Monterey from One Ministries for $90,000. The 18 watt translator holds a CP to relocate to 95.1 as K236BK with 250 watts. Once Mount Wilson closes on its recent purchase of 1240 KNRY Salinas, the translator will be used to bring that station to FM. Mount Wilson also purchased 97.9 KYZZ from Buckley last month.
Zimmer Radio will bring News/Talk 950 KWOS Jefferson City, MO to FM following its purchase of 100.9 K265CT from Lifesounds, Inc for $35,000.
Chicago Public Media has agreed to acquire 91.7 W219CD Elgin, IL from Lifetalk Radio for $52,500. The 10 watt translator will be used to rebroadcast an HD subchannel of 91.5 WBEZ Chicago.
Calvary Chapel of The Finger Lakes sells the CP for 107.7 W297BI Danby/Ithaca, NY to Taughannock Media for $50,000. The translator, when built will rebroadcast Sports “1160 ESPN” WPIE Trumansburg.
Liberty University makes $10,000 selling 93.9 W230BW Blackstone, VA to Denbar Communications to rebroadcast Sports “ESPN 1440” WKLV Blackstone.
Moving on to upgrade applications, Bridgelight LLC has cut back on its ambitious plan to move 94.3 W232AL Pomona, NY across the Hudson River to serve Westchester County, NY as a rebroadcaster of Cumulus’ 1230 WFAS White Plains. The modified application keeps the translator in Rockland County with an upgrade from 3.2 to 150 watts. The translator will now rebroadcast an HD subchannel of 95.5 WPLJ New York.
EMF Broadcasting has similarly scaled back on its attempt to move 100.7 K264AF Gausti, CA closer to Los Angeles. Instead of operating with 235 watts from the foothills between Glendale and Pasadena, the new application places the translator in Pomona, CA with 100 watts serving Eastern Los Angeles County.
EMF has applied to upgrade 95.9 K240CZ Tigard, OR from 19 to 99 watts. Following the upgrade, the translator will cover the entire city of Portland rebroadcasting Cumulus’ soon to move in 97.9 KNRQ Aloha. With the application filed by Cumulus’ engineer as opposed to EMF, we’d expect that this translator will be programmed by Cumulus.
Family Life Ministries has applied to boost 94.7 W234AZ Brighton, NY from 10 to 250 watts. Its new facility would give it coverage over all of greater Rochester via a rebroadcast of Entercom’s 98.9 WBZA-HD3.
Hog Radio’s 96.7 KCYT Ozark, AR is seeking to move directly into Fayetteville, AR. To do so the station will downgrade from a Class C2 to a C3 operating with 4.1kW at 166.3 meters.
