Entercom has announced that Randy ‘Boner’ Smith will return to Active Rock “Rock 105” 105.5 WRXR-FM Rossville GA/Chattanooga TN to host afternoons.
Smith previously served as Program Director and morning host at WRXR-FM from 2001-2016 under former owner iHeartMedia until his position was eliminated. He is the second addition to the station following new PD/Morning host Sean Stewart as Entercom is restoring local hosts to the station following its acquisition of the Chattanooga cluster from iHeartMedia last year.
Entercom, the #1 creator of live, original, local audio content in the United States, announced today that Chattanooga radio veteran Randy Smith, known as “Boner,” will be rejoining active rock radio station Rock 105 (WRXR-FM) as the new afternoon show host. The new show “Boner in the Afternoon” will air weekdays from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m ET.
“Boner is a longtime local on-air personality and we are thrilled to reunite him with the Rock 105 listeners,” said Nichole Hartman, Senior Vice President and Market Manager, Entercom Chattanooga. “Boner has been a part of the fabric of the Rock 105 brand in many roles over the years and we’re excited that he will now be hosting Afternoon Drive.”
“I am thrilled to be back and cannot wait to reconnect with the Chattanooga rock community. I’m looking forward to spending my afternoons entertaining Rock 105’s beloved listeners,” said Boner.
Boner joined Clear Channel in 2001 as Morning Host and Program Director for Rock 105 (WRXR), a role he held for over 15 years.
Rock 105 reestablished itself as Chattanooga’s live and local rock station after the transformational merger of Entercom and CBS Radio. Rock 105 is now part of Entercom, a leading American media and entertainment company and one of the top two radio broadcasters in the country reaching over 100 million people each week through a robust portfolio of over 235 radio stations, digital platforms and live events.
