Gary Shores, the longtime morning host at Cumulus Country “K100” 99.9 WKKO Toledo is coming off the air after his show tomorrow due to a piling number of medical issues.
Shores will be going on disability leave due to Pulmonary Fibrosis just a months after taking time off for removing a cancerous growth on his kidney. In a statement on the station’s Facebook page Shores wrote that he “may show up occasionally on the air or on the K-100 facebook page with updates, or just to say hi.” He is unsure if and when he will come back regularly.
Shores has been with WKKO since 1975 and served as Program Director from 1985 until 2018. Lyn Casye and Cliff Smithers, who joined Shores at WKKO last December after previously hosting mornings at Cumulus Media’s Classic Hits 93.5 WRQN will continue leading the morning show at the station.
