Longtime “1310 The Ticket” KTCK Dallas producer and host Danny Balis has joined iHeartMedia Hot Talk “97.1 The Freak” KEGL Fort Worth/Dallas as co-host of “The Downbeat” in afternoons.

Balis reunites with Downbeat host Mike Rhyner and fellow co-host Mike Sirois and producer Michael ‘Grubes’ Gruber, who all worked previously at KTCK. He departed the Ticket in May after serving as producer of its afternoon show “The Hardline” since 1999, which was hosted by Rhyner until his retirement from the station in 2020.

Upon making his debut on Monday, Balis told listeners, “I feel kind of nervous because I haven’t done this in a long time. I thought this may not ever happen to me again, to do radio with people I’ve known for a very, very long time.”
