Nielsen begins its monthly release of PPM ratings with today’s Day 1 update including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston/Galveston, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Long Island, Riverside/San Bernardino, San Jose, and Middlesex/Somerset/Union.

New York

iHeartMedia AC “106.7 Lite-FM” WLTW rose 5.6 to 7.6 to take the lead, but the station was down significantly from its 9.7 share in December 2021. MediaCo Adult R&B 107.5 WBLS was off 7.0 to 6.4. iHeartMedia Classic Rock “Q104.3” WAXQ rose 5.2 to 5.6. SBS Spanish Tropical “Mega 97.9” WSKQ dips 5.5 to 5.3. Audacy Classic Hits 101.1 WCBS-FM slips 5.2 to 4.6.

Audacy’s flip of 92.3 to a simulcast of News 1010 WINS continues to payoff as the station trends up 3.0 – 3.5 – 4.2.

Classical 105.9 WQXR rises 1.4 to 2.1.

Los Angeles

iHeartMedia AC 103.5 KOST jumps up 5.1 to 12.1 (up from 11.6 in December 2021). News/Talk 640 KFI (4.6 to 4.7) and Audacy Classic Hits “K-Earth 101” KRTH (5.1 to 4.7) tie for second. iHeartMedia Hot AC “104.3 My-FM” KBIG dips 5.1 to 4.3. Univision Spanish AC “107.5 K-Love” KLVE rises 4.0 to 4.2.

Chicago

iHeartMedia AC “93.9 Lite-FM” WLIT rises 6.0 to 12.4 (11.8 in December 2021). Hubbard Classic Rock “97.1 The Drive” WDRV is off 6.0 to 5.4. iHeartMedia Adult R&B “V103” WVAZ is up 5.1 to 5.3. Audacy News 780 WBBM/105.9 WCFS moves 4.8 to 4.9, while sister AAA 93.1 WXRT goes 4.2 to 4.1.

Audacy CHR “B96” WBBM-FM continues to trend down 1.9 – 1.7 – 1.5 for its lowest mark since Winter 1971. Hubbard 90s/200s Hits “The New 100.3” WSHE falls 1.9 to 1.3 for its lowest since Winter 1991.

San Francisco

Bonneville AC 96.5 KOIT rises 6.3 to 10.5 (way up from 7.9 in December 2021, while 94.5 KBAY San Jose added a 1.9 in 2021). Audacy News 740 KCBS/106.9 KFRC (7.5 to 7.4) and Public News/Talk 88.5 KQED-FM (7.6 to 7.4) tie for second. iHeartMedia Soft AC “98.1 The Breeze” KISQ (5.1 to 5.0) and Hot AC “Star 101.3” KIOI (3.7 to 4.1) round out the top five.

Dallas/Fort Worth

iHeartMedia AC “Star 102.1” KDGE rises 4.0 to 7.1 (down from its 8.8 in December 2021). iHeartMedia Classic Rock “Lonestar 92.5” KZPS holds at a 6.5 share. Cumulus Media Sports “96.7 The Ticket” 1310 KTCK/96.7 KTCK-FM rises 4.2 to 5.1 for what Ratings Expert Chris Huff notes is the largest share credited to 1310 since 1968 when it was WRR. Audacy Classic Hits 98.7 KLUV inches up 4.9 to 5.0. Service Broadcasting Adult R&B “105.7 Smooth R&B” KRNB (4.7 to 4.3) and iHeartMedia CHR “106.1 Kiss-FM” KHKS (steady at 4.3) tie for fifth.

Cumulus Media News/Talk 820 WBAP falls 4.5 to 3.3. iHeartMedia’s newly launched Hot Talk “97.1 The Freak” KEGL rises 1.0 to 1.3.

Houston/Galveston

iHeartMedia AC “Sunny 99.1” KODA rises 8.7 to 12.5 (up from 10.8 in December 2021). Cox Classic Rock “107.5/106.9 The Eagle” KGLK/KHPT holds at a 5.9 share. Audacy Variety Hits “95.7 The Spot” KKHH dips 5.7 to 5.5. Radio One Adult R&B “Majic 102.1” KMJQ is up 5.0 to 5.1. Cox Country “93Q” KKBQ holds at 5.0 share.

Hope Media Group Christian AC 89.3 KSBJ slips 5.3 to 4.5 (Christmas music down from 6.3 in 2021).

Univision Regional Mexican “Que Buena 102.9” KLTN trends down 5.5 – 4.6 – 3.7. iHeartMedia Hip Hop “93.7 The Beat” KQBT trends down 4.1 – 3.3 – 3.0.

Houston Christian Broadcasting Christian Preaching 105.7 KHCB-FM rises 1.2 – 1.5 – 1.8 for what Huff notes is its largest share ever.

Atlanta

Salem Christian AC “104.7 The Fish” WFSH-FM jumps up 6.6 to 9.2 (up from 7.2 in 2021) to lead Atlanta. Radio One Adult R&B “Majic 107.5/97.5” WAMJ/WUMJ jumps 7.1 to 8.6 for what Huff notes is an all-time record high for the stations. Cox Classic Rock “97.1 The River” falls from first to third despite rising 8.2 to 8.5. Cox AC “B98.5” WSB-FM is off 6.7 to 6.3, while sister Adult R&B “Kiss 104.1” WALR inches up 5.7 to 5.8.

Cox News/Talk 750 WSB/95.5 WSBB-FM slips 7.0 to 5.4, while Public News/Talk 90.1 WABE-FM drops 6.4 to 3.8 despite Georgia being home to the Senate run-off election.

Audacy Hip Hop/R&B “V103” WVEE trends up 3.4 – 3.9 – 4.6. Radio One Gospel “Praise 102.5” WPZE trends down 3.3 – 2.8 – 1.9. Audacy Rhythmic AC “Star 94.1” WSTR slips 2.4 – 2.0 – 1.9.

Philadelphia

Audacy AC “B101” WBEB rises 5.5 to 10.7 (10.1 in 2021 albeit with loss of competitor “106.1 The Breeze” WISX and its 3.0 with Christmas music last year). iHeartMedia Adult R&B 105.3 WDAS-FM rises 6.2 to 6.3. Beasley Media Classic Rock 102.9 WMGK moves 6.3 to 6.2. Beasley Rock 93.3 WMMR (7.4 – 6.1) and Audacy Sports 94.1 WIP-FM (9.3 – 6.1) tie for fourth.

Radio One R&B Oldies “Classix 107.9” WPPZ trends up 2.3 – 2.6 – 3.3. AAA 88.5 WXPN jumps up 1.8 to 2.4.

Long Island

iHeartMedia CHR “Z100” WHTZ remains in the lead down 6.9 to 6.7. Connoisseur Media Hot AC 97.5 WALK-FM uses all-Christmas to jump 4.4 to 6.1 (down from 7.2 in 2021). iHeartMedia Classic Rock “Q104.3” WAXQ rises 5.4 to 6.1. iHeartMedia AC “106.7 Lite-FM” WLTW jumps 2.7 to 5.3 (down from 6.2 in December 2021). Cox Classic Rock 102.3 WBAB/95.3 WHFM holds at a 5.0 share.

Cox CHR 106.1 WBLI falls 3.5 to 2.8 for what Ratings Expert Chris Huff notes is the lowest recorded share for the station since the market was first measured in 1974.

Riverside/San Bernardino

Anaheim Broadcasting Classic Hits 99.9 KOLA-FM dips 9.2 to 8.3. Entravision Spanish Adult Hits “Jose 97.5” KLYY rises 4.0 to 5.2. Audacy Country “95.1 K-Frog” KFRG inches up 4.4 to 4.5. Good News Radio Christian AC 89.7 KSGN dips 4.6 to 4.3. Univision Regional Mexican “La 101.9” KSCA rises 3.3 to 3.8.

San Jose

Bonneville AC 96.5 KOIT San Francisco leads the South Bay up 7.2 to 13.8 (up significantly from a 9.7 in December 2021 although Alpha Media’s then-stunting 94.5 KBAY added an additional 5.6 share last year). Audacy News 740 KCBS/106.9 KFRC holds at a 7.1 share. Bonneville Classic Rock “98.5 K-Fox” KUFX slides 5.9 to 4.9. Alpha Media Hot AC “Mix 106.5” KEZR trends down 5.8 – 4.9 – 4.5. iHeartMedia Hot AC “Star 101.3” KIOI jumps up 3.0 to 4.4.

Middlesex/Somerset/Union

iHeartMedia AC “106.7 Lite-FM” WLTW got the bulk of the gains from the three stations going all-Christmas rising 5.1 to 7.1 (down from 8.3 in December 2021). SBS Spanish Tropical “Mega 97.9” WSKQ dips 7.1 to 6.8. iHeartMedia Classic Rock “Q104.3” WAXQ rises 6.0 to 6.4. Townsquare Media Conservative Talk/Classic Hits “New Jersey 101.5” WKXW falls 7.5 to 6.3. Beasley AC “Magic 98.3” WMGQ trends up 3.4 – 4.4 – 6.1 (Christmas music up from 5.3 in December 2021).

Pillar of Fire Christian AC “Star 99.1” WAWZ falls 3.1 to 2.2 (Down from 4.1 in December 2021).
