Cumulus Media has announced the promotion of Mike “Killabrew” Mondell to Operations Manager for its Indianapolis cluster.
Killabrew joined the cluster in April 2022 as Program Director of Rock “93.9X” WNDX and Classic Hits 104.5 WJJK. He will continue in those roles as well as programming “Indy’s Sports Ticket” 1430 WXNT. Prior to joining the company, he previously had two stints as SVP/Programming for iHeartMedia Indianapolis from 2016-2019 and again in 2020 with a seven month run as Program Director at Classic Rock “Big 100” WBIG-FM and Alternative “DC 101” WWDC Washington DC in between. He has previously programmed Alternative “Alt 106.3” KDXA and Sports 1460 KXNO Des Moines and Active Rock “98 Rock” 97.9 WXTB Tampa and worked on-air at “Zeta 94.9” WZTA Miami, “93X” WMFS Memphis and “620 The Sports Animal” WDAE Tampa.
He fills the OM position that had been held by Chris ‘Boomer’ Layfield until his exit last month.
Cumulus Media (NASDAQ: CMLS) announces that it has promoted Mike Killabrew to Operations Manager for Cumulus Indianapolis. Killabrew will lead all programming operations for Cumulus Media’s six-station group in Indianapolis, which include: WFMS-FM (Country), WJJK-FM (Classic Hits), WNDX-FM (Rock), WNTR-FM (Adult Contemporary), WXNT-AM (Sports), and WZPL-FM (Top 40). Killabrew joined Cumulus Indianapolis in May 2022 as Program Director for Classic Hits station WJJK-FM, Rock Station WNDX-FM, and Indy’s Sports Ticket WXNT-AM, stations he will continue to program.
Prior to joining Cumulus Media, Killabrew was Senior Vice President of Programming for iHeart Media Indianapolis. He was also Director of Rock Programming for iHeart Media-Washington, DC. Earlier stops in Killabrew’s career include Program Director positions in Tampa, FL, and Des Moines, IA, with oversight of multiple stations in each market.
