Country Radio Broadcasters Selects Scott Borchetta At Its 2024 CRB President’s Award Recipient

Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
May 15, 2024

Scott Borchetta Country Radio Hall of Fame Presidents Award CRS CRBThe Country Radio Broadcasters, Inc. (CRB) is thrilled to announce Scott Borchetta as the recipient of the prestigious 2024 CRB President’s Award.

The CRB President’s Award is bestowed upon individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and played a vital role in shaping the success of the Country Radio Seminar and its mission to advance the country radio format.

CRB/CRS Board President Kurt Johnson comments, “Scott is one of those you can count on one hand. Music Row visionary and trailblazer, race car driver, television celebrity, entrepreneur, maverick. From his first days in promotion in Nashville to his iconic status today, he continues to be a true original. I hope you’ll be in the room as we celebrate one of the best ever in the business.”

Scott Borchetta is the Chairman and CEO of Big Machine Label Group, the leading independent record label home to superstars such as Tim McGraw, Garth Brooks, Dolly Parton, Thomas Rhett, Carly Pearce, Sheryl Crow, and Lady A. He also serves as the HYBE America Chairman of Record Labels. Under Borchetta’s leadership, Big Machine has achieved monumental success over nearly 20 years, garnering multiple GRAMMY® Awards, American Music Awards, Country Music Association Awards, Academy of Country Music Awards, and Billboard Music Awards. His guidance has led to over 220 million albums sold by Big Machine artists, with more than 200 singles reaching No. 1 on the Country, Pop, and Rock charts. As an executive producer, Borchetta has delivered impressive works, including the 20-track “Petty Country: A Country Music Celebration of Tom Petty” and the GRAMMY®-winning documentary “GLEN CAMPBELL…I’LL BE ME,” which also earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song.

Borchetta’s innovative business strategies have earned him spots on Billboard’s Power 100 list and Fast Company’s 100 Most Creative People in Business, along with the Music Business Association’s Presidential Award for Outstanding Executive. He made history in 2012 with a groundbreaking deal with iHeart Radio, securing sound-recording performance royalties for Big Machine and its artists, marking the first time artists and labels would be paid for their sound recordings on terrestrial radio stations in the U.S. Borchetta also served as a mentor on the final two seasons of FOX’s “American Idol,” guiding contestants and signing the winners to record deals. Additionally, he created and starred in two seasons of the original music format “The Launch” in partnership with Canada’s Bell Media.

An avid philanthropist, Borchetta has significantly contributed to the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. In 2020, he and his wife Sandi created The Big Machine Neighborhood, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit wing. They also co-founded the Music Has Value fund to support music in schools and music therapy. A racing enthusiast, Borchetta is an award-winning racer actively involved in motorsports. He serves as the Executive Advisor for the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway Hall of Fame and played a key role in bringing IndyCar to Nashville in 2021 through the Big Machine Music City Grand Prix, Nashville’s annual NTT INDYCAR SERIES race.

Previous recipients of this esteemed award include industry luminaries such as John Esposito, Beverlee Brannigan, Sarah Trahern, Mike Dungan, Charlie Morgan, Bob Kingsley, Joe Galante, and Erica Farber, among others.

The presentation of the CRB President’s Award will take place during the 2024 Country Radio Hall of Fame event, scheduled to be held on June 19 at the Virgin Hotel Nashville. This highly anticipated occasion will honor exceptional radio professionals, including on-air personalities Cody Alan (SiriusXM) and the duo Pat & Tom (KNCI/Sacramento), alongside off-air luminaries Mike Moore (WKHX/Atlanta), Jim Robertson (retired, KIKK/Houston, WOGK/Gainesville/Ocala), and Meg Stevens (WUBL/Atlanta).
