Saga Communications Ithaca NY Operations Manager and “Q-Country 103.7” WQNY Brand Manager/morning host Chris Allinger has announced his intent to retire this summer.
Allinger, whose parents both worked in radio, joined then Rock “Q104” WQNY in 1990 as part of the morning show and has remained in the daypart through now. He would quickly rise to Program Director and oversaw the station’s 1996 flip to Country. Allinger stated, “It’s amazing to me that Radio gave me the ability to raise a family, be a part of a community and have so much fun making so many ‘best friends’.”
Saga’s Cayuga Media Group President Chet Osadchey said, “It’s been a pleasure to work with Chris over the years. He is truly one of the kindest and most authentic people I have ever worked with. Chris is the same person to everyone in the building that he is to all his massive radio listening audience. He has been a truly great radio ambassador.”
