Cumulus Media Country “K105” WQXK Salem/Youngstown OH has announced the passing of longtime morning co-host Doug James on Thursday, January 8 at the age of 71 after a brief illness.
James had been with WQXK since 1989 and has been in mornings with Mary Ann Graff since 1989.
Cumulus Youngstown VP/Market Manager Bill Kelly said, “Doug loved all of K-Country and was passionate about the music, the artists, the listeners, and our community, and was a devout supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis. He believed helping our community of listeners was as important as having them listen daily. Doug set the standard for morning radio in the Valley. He will be profoundly missed by all of us at Cumulus Youngstown. We send our heartfelt condolences to his family and his many friends.”

I have been listening to K105 for years, my daughter did an internship with K105 with Doug, Mary Ann and Lee . They were all great to her. So sorry about Doug, I loved laughing at him on your station, he will be sadly missed. Hugs and prayers to you all.
My dad was a loyal listener of Doug and Mary Ann for 27 years until I lost him in 2016. I’m sure there were many meetings with Doug when he did his remotes. My dad tried to make as many of them as he could. Condolences to Doug’s family, friends and colleagues at K105. Cherish the memories always.
