Shawn Dietz’ OnTheGoMedia is doubling the amount of stations it operates in Central Iowa as the company has begun an LMA with Eldora Broadcasting Company to operate AC “Soft Rock 92.9” KDAO-FM Eldora and co-owned MTN Broadcasting’s Oldies 1190 KDAO/103.7 K279AN Marshalltown and 94.3 K232GG Grundy Center IA.
Northpine notes that the move, which took effect on May 1, followed last year’s death of KDAO owner and co-founder Mark Osmundson. In its announcement, OnTheGoMedia said, “As OnTheGoMedia steps into this new chapter, we do so with the utmost respect for the path paved by the late Mark Osmundson. An Iowa Broadcast Hall of Famer, Mark was more than just a station owner; he was a champion for the Marshalltown business community and a broadcasting innovator.”
Dietz commented, “Mark Osmundson didn’t just run a radio station; he built a legacy that spanned nearly half a century. Following his passing last year, we feel a deep responsibility to uphold the high standards of service and integrity that were the hallmarks of Mark’s storied career. We are honored to carry his torch forward.”
The company, which also owns Classic Hits “99 The Wave” 98.9 KQCR-FM Parkersburg and Country/Classic Rock 104.9 KLMJ-FM Hampton IA along with the Hampton Chronicle newspaper, indicates there will be some changes as they integrate KDAO and KDAO-FM into their platforms, “While these updates will be announced as they roll out, OnTheGoMedia’s core mission remains unchanged: a steadfast commitment to providing the premier local content the Marshalltown area and surrounding communities deserve.”
