iHeartMedia Urban 107.5 WGCI Chicago has let go of their Program Director and morning show amidst dropping ratings.
RobertFeder.com reports that PD Kenard Karter has been let go after just nine months in the position. Karter had been with the iHeartMedia Chicago cluster for a decade. Also exiting the station are morning co-hosts Tony Sculfield and Nina Chantele. Chantele had also doubled as midday host at sister CHR “103.5 Kiss-FM” WKSC. The “Morning Riot” had been with WGCI since 2009.
The third member of the morning show, Leon Rogers, will continue in the slot with weekender Rob Nice until a new morning show is named. The syndicated Breakfast Club? Derrick Brown, who serves as Director of Urban Programming for iHeartMedia Chicago, will add PD duties at WGCI to his position.
WGCI ranked 11th in the Nielsen Audio PPM Ratings for November with a 3.4 share. Feder notes that the morning show was 15th overall and 7th in 18-34.
A syndicated morning show from sister company Premiere Networks is certainly a possibility.
