When are they going to put the online player up? I do believe they had it up early last October. I also believe they did the "Stocking Stuffer Song of the Day" last October too. What's going on?

The following is a link to an article from The New York Times discussing the changes (other than it's new frequency and new status as a noncommercial station) that will take place to classical-music formatted WQXR when it moves from 96.3 to 105.9 and becomes a noncommercial outlet next Thursday evening (October 8th):

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/01/arts/music/01radio.html .

The good news for longtime WQXR fans is that several current hosts will remain with the station through this transition.

Joseph_Gallant on "WQXR/WCAA Swap Set For October 8th"

The swap between WCAA-105.9 and WQXR-96.3 which will see WCAA go onto the bigger 96.3 signal (and WQXR move from a commercial to noncommercial station, under the ownership of WNYC) will take place on the evening of Thursday, Octoebr 8th at 8 P.M.

The first program for WQXR on it's new frequency will be a concert by the Orpheus Camber Orchestra, broadcast live from Carnegie Hall (with the world premiere of Aaron-Jay Kernis's "Concerto With Echoes" scheduled to be included).

While WNYC-93.9 will also simulcast the concert, look for WNYC-FM to drop it's remaining music programming shortly after that to become 24/7 NPR news/information (In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if WNYC-820 drops most of it's current NPR news/information programming----which will all be heard on FM anyway----to pick-up more of the BBC World Service; maybe even 24/7 BBC).

WNYC press release: http://www.wnyc.org/about/media/media_41.html .
