iHeartMedia CHR “Channel 96.1” WHQC Shelby/Charlotte NC has relaunched this morning as “Hits 96.1“.
The new name is being presented as “a listener designed playlist for the Queen City”. The station will continue to serve as the flagship for the syndicated Ace & TJ morning show with the rest of the on-air lineup remaining as is. That includes Ryan Seacrest from 10am-12pm, Brooke Morrison from 12-3pm, Jordan in afternoons, and Raphael at night.
WHQC is locked in a tight Top 40 battle locally with Beasley Media’s “Kiss 95.1” WNKS. In the December 2018 Nielsen Audio ratings, WHQC pulled back ahead with a 4.1 share while followed at a 3.8.
iHeartMedia Charlotte announced today the debut of The New HITS 96.1, All The Hits, effective immediately.
The New HITS 96.1 will broadcast Top 40 hit music from artists such as Ariana Grande, Post Malone, Maroon 5, Halsey and Shawn Mendes. The highly rated “Ace & TJ Show” will continue to broadcast weekday mornings. “On Air with Ryan Seacrest”, as well as hosts Brooke Morrison, Jordan and Raphael will also host the station’s programming.
