The Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Rodney Ho reports on the new lineup to debut on “Star 94.1” WSTR based on marketing materials released by the station.
Current morning co-host Jenn Hobby will become the lead of the new “Jenn & Friends” show with two new faces joining the program. Mark Owens moves over from a producer role at sister Sports “92.9 The Game” WZGC. He also was previously part of The Bert Show as ‘Phil Terrana’ while Curtis Slade joins the show from Myrtle Beach where he worked as an interior designer. They will be joined by existing show director Jeannine Riley and assistant producers Amanda Kelly and Rachel Kelso. Amanda Kelly will also take on the midday host duties.
Joining for afternoons is Mike Kannon. Kannon, who hosts the syndicated “Open House Party“, also currently is a part-time host at Bonneville Country 98.5 KYGO Denver. He has previously hosted mornings at “i93.3” KLIF-FM and “Amp 103.7” KVIL Dallas, and served as PD of “Wired 96.5” WRDW-FM Philadelphia. He previously worked in Atlanta as Music Director and night host at “95.5 The Beat” WBTS-FM in the early 2000s.
Original Report 3:15pm: A trio of high profile cuts have been made at Entercom Hot AC “Star 94.1” WSTR Atlanta as morning co-host Jeff Dauler, MD/midday host Heather Branch and APD/afternoon host Mike Marino are exiting.
While Dauler and Marino have departed already, we can confirm that Branch will announce her departure on air on Friday. Branch began her career at WSTR as an intern in 2000 and returned as midday host in 2009 after holding the same position at “94.9 The Point” WPTE Norfolk. She assumed the music director duties in 2017.
Dauler joined WSTR in March 2016 along with Jenn Hobby. Both had previously been part of the syndicated “Bert Show” based at Cumulus’ “Q99.7” (then “Q100“) WWWQ Atlanta. Hobby remains with the station in a solo morning show.
Marino joined WSTR in 2013 and added Assistant Program Director duties in 2017. He has hosted afternoons in two periods during his time with the station and also served as Dauler and Hobby’s Executive Producer. He previously programmed CHR “Hot 100.9” WHTI Richmond VA and served as APD of “Hot 98.1” WHZT Greenville and “97 BHT” WBHT Wilkes-Barre PA.
