iHeartMedia’s Ocean States Trust is donating Spanish CHR “Rumba 1430” WKOX Everett/Boston MA to Delmarva Educational Association.
Delmarva Educational Association is led by Nancy and Stu Epperson Jr., the wife and son of Salem Media Chairman Stu Epperson. The organization owns five non-commercial stations in Jacksonville FL, and Norfolk and Richmond VA, while their commercial arm Chesapeake-Portsmouth Broadcasting operates additional stations within those markets. The pair also own Truth Broadcasting, which operates a network of Christian Preaching stations.
Within six months of closing, Delmarva Educational Association states it intends to relocate WKOX to a new tower site and terminate the current lease. WKOX was transferred to the Ocean States Trust for divestiture after iHeartMedia acquired multiple Boston market stations as part of Entercom’s acquisition of CBS Radio in 2017.
Looks like Rumba 1430 is going the way of the dinosaur. It will probably relocate itself to one of IHeart FM’s HD channels.
