While it has been an unstated fact for the past several weeks, Premiere Radio Networks and Sean Hannity have confirmed they will not be reupping with their current Cumulus owned affiliates at the end of the year.
Telling InsideRadio that, “We fired them weeks ago,” the move coincides with Cumulus resigning Rush Limbaugh for all their affiliates except in New York. Hannity will make the move to Clear Channel’s 710 WOR along with Limbaugh and could easily make the same move to 910 KKSF San Francisco from Cumulus’ 560 KSFO that Rush made in January 2012.
Among the other stations that will be losing Hannity are 790 KABC Los Angeles, 890 WLS Chicago, 820/96.7 WBAP Dallas, 630/105.9 WMAL Washington, 760 WJR Detroit, and 710/103.7 KCMO Kansas City.
Michael Savage has commented previously that he expects to gain Hannity’s timeslot on Cumulus’ stations.
It actually would be feasible for Hannity to cut deals with the Salem conservatalkers in Chicago, Washington, Dallas and LA (if Phil Boyce actually does hold enough pull within the chain). That would solve many of the immediate clearance issues that he will face come January.
And maybe I’m naive, but I just cannot see in any way KFI axing Bill Carroll for Hannity.
