Audacy completed the move of Country “94.1 The Wolf” WLFP Germantown TN to 99.7 WMC-FM replacing Hot AC “FM 100” at noon today.
The “FM 100” brand bid farewell with a 6 hour tribute show from anchored by former morning host Ron Olson and including multiple staffers from the station’s history through its Rock, CHR and Hot AC eras. Olson spent 34 years at WMC-FM mostly in mornings until moving to mornings at sister AC “104.5 The River” WRVR in 2018. The station completed its run with The Breaks’ “Memphis I’m Coming Home To You“, written as a promotional song for the station in the late 70s.
The new “99.7 The Wolf” took over with a sweeper thanking “FM 100” and then launching with Kane Brown’s “Like I Love Country Music”.
As previously announced, “FM 100” morning co-host Erin Austin will move to 10am-1pm on The Wolf starting Tuesday, June 13. Longtime WMC-FM staffer Jill Bucco, who had continued to track middays after moving to Orlando where she co-hosts mornings at Classic Hits “105.9 Sunny-FM” WOCL, will move to an undisclosed shift at WRVR.
Audacy will move the WLFP call letters to 99.7, with 94.1 becoming WMLE on June 16 when the sale closes. A previous FCC filing listed 93.7 WZMX Hartford CT as the destination of the WLFP call letters, but an Audacy representative notes that was a clerical error with the FCC database in handling three letter calls and will not be the case.
