After less than two months on the air, Conservative Talk “Talk of Atlanta” 1010 WTZA/102.1 W271CV Atlanta will cease operations at the end of this week.
Will Regan, whose RC Media Partners was in the process of purchasing WTZA from K&Z Broadcasting, told the Atlanta Journal Constitution that the combination of advertisers and investors pulling out due the the stock market crash and damage to the WTZA tower that would’ve cost well into the six figures to repair led to the quick demise of the station.
While some shows including early afternoon host Mike Brooks and afternoon host Kim ‘Kimmer’ Peterson ended last week, the station is still running this week with a message on the station’s website noting, “We are ON-AIR UNTIL FRIDAY 03/27/2020 so KEEP LISTENING FOR UPDATES… SOMETHING IS IN THE WORKS… SERIOUSLY… IT IS… SO STAY TUNED… WE’RE NOT DEAD YET!!”
WTZA debuted its Conservative Talk identity on February 3 with the lineup also including The Shannon Burke Show from 7-10am Monday through Thursday, Burke’s co-host Kara Stockton hosting mornings on Fridays, and Rich Sullivan from 10am-1pm. RC Media Partners filed to purchase WTZA and its Construction Permit for 93.3 W227DN Norcross last month for $352,500.
