When Lotus Communications acquired KOMO and Sinclair's other Seattle radio properties earlier this year, the KOMO call letters and intellectual property were not included to remain with KOMO-TV. And as the calendar turns to 2022, new call letters and branding will appear on News 1000 KOMO Seattle and 97.7 KOMO-FM Oakville WA. Lotus has registered a new NWNewsRadio.com domain for the station. And with it has reserved KNWN and KNWN-FM for the stations pointing to "Northwest News Radio" as the soon-to-be branding for the legacy brand. The KOMO call letters first appeared in Seattle on December 31, 1926 on what is now 950 KJR. A 1944 call swap between the two stations would move them to 1000. The all-News format would launch in 2003, but re-add Talk shows at various times until 2012.
