Multiple Staffers Announce Departures From 106.5 The Wolf Kansas City

Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
August 14, 2025

106.5 The Wolf WDAF-FM Kansas CityAre changes on the way to Audacy Country “106.5 The Wolf” WDAF-FM Liberty/Kansas City MO? The station’s local personalities have announced the end of their runs at the station.

Morning co-host Codie Allen shared, “I’ve been trying to find the right words but all I can think of is this….its the closing of one chapter and beginning of the next. I’ve had a blessed radio career in KC but sadly the Codie and Zeke morning show had its final curtain today. I’ll post more once I really process all of this but just know that I am truly okay but will miss being a part of your mornings 🫶🏻🫶🏻”

Allen and Zeke Montana have anchored mornings since August 2021 when Montana joined the show. Allen also serves as APD/MD of the station. Montana previously worked at “Q104” KBEQ from 1987 to 2019 moving to mornings in 2002.

Afternoon host Jeff ‘Shotgun’ Jaxon states that today will be his final show after joining WDAF-FM in December 2006. He previously worked at KBEQ from 1992 until moving to the Wolf. Jaxon wrote, “This afternoon will be my last show on 106-5 The Wolf. I knew it was coming eventually. It’s been a hell of a ride! I moved here from Omaha and started at Q104 on November 1st 1992, then from December of 2006 until now, I’ve been on The Wolf. Never would I have imagined being on the air in Kansas City for 5 years, let alone 33! That’s like 100 years in DJ years! Kansas City, you’ve been very, very good to me and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the chance I’ve had to be a small part of so many lives over the years. Maybe you called in on Passion Phones back in the day and dedicated a song to your crush or “dropped your pants, did the dance, and sung along” to the Top 4 @ 9 song. Maybe you were down and just needed a song to pick you up or you were celebrating a big milestone in your life and wanted to hear a party song… Back in the days when people used the phone to make phone calls, I spent a lot of time playing a cheap version of a therapist/bartender with folks who called just to talk. Honestly, if it weren’t for the salary, my favorite time to be on the air was at night. But for the last 25 or so years, I’ve done the afternoon show. A lot of people who listened to me and called my show at night when they were teens, spent time with me on their way home from work to their families. An entire generation of adults have been born, raised, graduated college, and started careers and families since I started on the air in KC. Not gonna lie. I’m a little teary-eyed writing this. I’m going to miss that connection with you. Don’t be mad at The Wolf or the company. They’ve done really good by me for a much longer time than actually made sense. Companies have a will to survive, and have to do hard things sometimes. I know this decision was tough for them. I’ll continue in a much smaller capacity, working with The Kansas City Chiefs Radio Network. I’ll still be out at the Chiefs Kingdom Shows with Mitch. I just won’t be on the air. Maybe I’ll pop up on another station here in KC someday. Please don’t forget me. I won’t ever forget the life that you’ve allowed me to have. I love you, KC!”

WDAF-FM tied for eleventh in the Kansas City market with a 3.3 share in the July 2025 Nielsen Audio ratings. That tied it with Steel City Media Country 94.1 KFKF and placed it right ahead of Steel City’s “Q104” KBEQ’s 3.2 share.
